​Who I am?

My name is Melissa Gonzalez and I'm a native New Yorker, ethnomusicologist,  and classically-trained vocalist, who dabbles occasionally on the diatonic button accordion. Please feel free to review my curriculum vitae.

​What I do?

I completed my doctorate in Music  at Columbia University (dissertation abstract). My research interests include the Caribbean and North Africa, music and nationalism, and the intersection of vocality and gender performativity.

In addition to teaching undergraduate courses at Columbia University and Fordham University, I am a digital marketing strategist and business development consultant.
